Jobs ‘at risk’ and salaries slashed at MND Scotland as charity faces financial difficulties

MND Scotland is facing severe financial difficulties, leading‍ to potential job losses and salary reductions, STV News⁢ reported October 6, 2025. The⁣ charity confirmed it has⁣ begun a consultation ⁢process with staff regarding the measures, citing a “challenging fundraising environment.”

According to Companies House records, Adrian ⁤Murphy, Jack Mcinnes, and Angharad Low were terminated as charity directors ‌on September 30, 2025. Robb from Shepherd & Wedderburn⁣ and Callum Paterson from the University of edinburgh have been appointed‍ as interim directors. The charity, which provides vital support to people affected by ⁣Motor Neurone Disease ​and their families, is grappling with a significant shortfall in​ income, threatening its ability to deliver ‌essential services.

MND Scotland has not disclosed the ‌exact number of jobs at ⁤risk or the extent of the salary cuts,but stated the proposed changes are necessary to ensure the organization’s long-term sustainability. The ‍charity ​emphasized its⁢ commitment to continuing its core work, including funding research and providing care for those living with MND.

Motor Neurone Disease (MND) is a progressive condition that affects the brain and spinal ⁤cord. It attacks motor neurones – or nerve ‌cells – and causes them to die. There is currently no cure for MND, and it can significantly shorten life expectancy.MND Scotland⁣ relies heavily on public donations and fundraising events to operate.
