Jenson Button Eyes NASCAR San Diego Truck Race After Retirement

2009 ⁣Formula 1 World Champion ⁣Jenson Button achieved success across multiple‍ racing disciplines, including Formula 1, Super GT, ⁣the 24 Hours of Le Mans,⁤ and the⁢ NASCAR ⁣Cup ​Series. He even drove‌ a NASCAR stock car‌ at Le​ Mans.

Last ‍year, ⁣Button announced his retirement following the 2025 World Endurance ⁤Championship finale at the⁢ 8 Hours of Bahrain. However, his passion for racing​ remains strong. He⁣ currently participates in historic and vintage car events and recently expressed interest‌ in further competition.

During the Rolex⁢ 24 broadcast on Peacock, ⁤Marty Snider and Steve Letarte questioned Button about his retirement from professional motorsports.

“Well you just talked​ about NASCAR going too San Diego,” Button responded with a smile. “My local race ⁢now (Button lives in ‌the⁤ Los⁢ Angeles area). Has ‍anyone got a Truck that wants me to drive?”

He further stated: “If ⁢it’s got a wheel and ⁤gearstick,‌ I’m there … So yeah, ⁣I⁢ would ⁤love to do a Truck​ race if it’s ‍possible.”

NASCAR plans to race all three of its national divisions at⁤ Naval Base Coronado on June ‍19-21, utilizing a new street course on an active ​military base ⁤in san​ Diego.
