Jennie’s Figure Sparks Mixed Reactions From Netizens After Hong Kong Performance

March 25, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

Blackpink’s Jennie drew both praise and criticism following a performance in Hong Kong on March 22, 2026, with a viral post highlighting her physique sparking a debate online, according to a report from Koreaboo.

Jennie headlined the closing night of ComplexCon Hong Kong at AsiaWorld-Expo, marking her first solo performance in the city, as reported by HK City Guide. The performance was part of the festival’s third edition, which organizers said broke attendance records, drawing tens of thousands of attendees over two days.

A post on the Korean online forum Nate Pann, featuring images of Jennie from the performance, quickly gained over 73,000 views, initiating a discussion about her body. Initial comments lauded Jennie’s toned physique and stage presence. Netizens praised her proportions and overall styling, with some commenting on her “waistline” and “perfect” look, as detailed by Koreaboo.

However, the conversation quickly shifted, with numerous commenters offering critical and, at times, harsh assessments of her body. Some expressed that she appeared “skinny” or lacked curves, while others questioned her confidence and suggested she focus more on her singing. One commenter criticized her attempt to emulate a more “seductive” style, comparing her unfavorably to Hwasa, according to Koreaboo.

The ComplexCon performance featured Jennie performing her remix of Tame Impala’s “Dracula,” a collaboration released in February 2026, as reported by Rolling Stone. She performed a 10-song set focusing on tracks from her debut solo album, Ruby, released in March 2025.

Secretary for Culture, Sports and Tourism Rosanna Law Shuk-pui, speaking at the opening ceremony of ComplexCon, highlighted the festival’s importance, stating that Hong Kong’s “distinctive arts and culture DNA makes it the perfect home for this global convergence of style, trainers, music,” according to the South China Morning Post. Renowned Hong Kong artist Lung Ka-sing, creator of the popular doll Labubu, served as the festival’s artistic director.

Blackpink, as a group, concluded their Deadline World Tour in Hong Kong in July 2025, prior to Jennie’s solo performance at ComplexCon, as noted by the South China Morning Post.
