Jen Affleck files for divorce from Zac Affleck
Jen Affleck has filed for divorce from her husband, Zac Affleck, after seven years of marriage, according to court documents obtained by TMZ. The reality television star submitted a petition for divorce on Tuesday in Utah, alongside a proposed parenting plan that keeps specific details private.
The split comes just ahead of the November 12 premiere of Hulu’s upcoming spin-off series, The Secret Lives of Mormon Wives: Orange County,
in which Jen stars following her recent relocation from Utah to Southern California. The couple shares three children—Nora, Luca, and Penelope—and Jen is currently expecting their fourth child.
Meeting on Mutual and Building a Family
The pair first connected in 2018 on the Mormon dating app Mutual. They became engaged the following year and officially tied the knot in June 2019.

Over the course of their marriage, they welcomed their three children while building a family life that eventually intersected with the world of streaming television. Since the debut of Hulu’s original series in 2024, Jen has maintained a prominent role across five seasons. Other original cast members included Taylor Frankie Paul, Whitney Leavitt, Mayci Neeley, Mikayla Matthews, and Jessi Draper, though Paul, Matthews, and Leavitt have since departed the program.
Public Marital Struggles and Behind-the-Scenes Pressures
Viewers of the reality series witnessed numerous emotional and financial disputes between Jen and Zac. During Season 1, a heavily publicized disagreement occurred when Jen considered attending a Chippendales show with her co-stars during a Las Vegas trip. That incident prompted Zac to threaten divorce and led to other explosive on-screen claims.
Jen has also spoken publicly about Zac’s struggles with gambling during the run of the show. In August, she opened up about the heavy toll of these private and public pressures while navigating her fourth pregnancy. There’s a lot that we’ve been navigating behind closed doors,
she told People at the time. It’s been a lot the past couple of months, I’ll be honest. But I do feel like I’m seeing the light at the end of the tunnel and just trying to count my blessings every single day.
Earlier in their run on the show, Jen admitted that they entered filming in a difficult place, though she previously noted that attending therapy together ultimately strengthened their bond.
Divorce Filings Coincide with Upcoming Series Premiere
Court records do not disclose the specific legal reasons cited for the divorce, nor do they detail the exact custody arrangements Jen is seeking in her proposed parenting plan. The filings arrive at a critical juncture for the television personality as she transitions to the Orange County spin-off.
As legal proceedings unfold in Utah, the premiere of the new series remains scheduled for November 12.
