Jeff hiller, Dascha Polanco, adn Ashlie Atkinson Round Out Cast of NBC’s New Cheerleading Comedy ‘Stumble’
NBC has added Emmy-winning actor Jeff Hiller, alongside Dascha Polanco and Ashlie Atkinson, to the cast of its upcoming comedy series, “Stumble.” The show, a mockumentary centered on the competitive world of junior college cheerleading, is slated to premiere on NBC on November 7 and will be available to stream the following day on Peacock.
“Stumble” joins a growing slate of comedic offerings for NBC and Peacock, tapping into the popularity of mockumentary-style shows. The series will feature a core cast including Jenn Lyon, Taran Killam, Ryan Pinkston, Jarrett Austin Brown, Anissa Borrego, Arianna Davis, Taylor Dunbar, and Georgie Murphy, with Kristin Chenoweth appearing as a recurring guest star.
Hiller will portray Augustus, the owner of the Candy Button factory and a prominent local benefactor. Polanco is set to play the mother of Krystal (Borrego) and the manager/CEO of Krystal Enterprises. Atkinson will take on the role of Miss Dot, described as an eccentric, unregistered school nurse and facilities manager who provides assistance to the cheer team.
Hiller recently received an Emmy Award for Outstanding Supporting Actor in a comedy Series for his work on HBO’s “Somebody Somewhere.” His previous television credits include appearances in “30 rock,” “Community,” “Broad City,” and “Evil.” He is represented by Innovative Artists and OPE Partners.
Polanco is widely recognized for her role in Netflix’s “Orange Is the New Black,” where she starred throughout the show’s seven seasons.She has since appeared in ”When They See Us,” “The Assassination of Gianni Versace: American Crime Story,” “Russian Doll,” and films such as “Joy” and “In the Heights.” She is represented by Gersh, Liebman Entertainment and Goodman Genow Schenkman.
Atkinson currently stars as Mamie Fish in HBO’s “The Gilded Age,” which is preparing for its fourth season. Her additional television roles include appearances in “And Just Like That…,” “mr. Robot,” and “The Marvelous Mrs.Maisel.” She will next be seen in the film “The Lost Bus” and has previously appeared in ”BlacKkKlansman.” She is represented by Rosier Artist Management, TalentWorks and Peikoff Mahan.
