Jeff Goldblum adopts Vegan Lifestyle After ‘Wicked‘ role
LOS ANGELES – Jeff Goldblum has revealed he has stopped eating meat after his experiance working on the upcoming film Wicked: For Good. The actor, who plays a villainous leader in the musical adaptation, cited the influence of his co-stars and the film’s themes as catalysts for the change in his diet.
The shift comes as veganism and vegetarianism gain increasing traction within the entertainment industry, fueled by ethical concerns and a growing awareness of animal welfare. Goldblum joins a growing list of prominent actors embracing plant-based lifestyles, including Ariana Grande and Cynthia Erivo, his co-stars in wicked, who have both been vegan since 2013.the film itself features Erivo’s character, Elphaba, as a fugitive fighting for animal rights, a narrative element that appears to have resonated wiht Goldblum.
Goldblum shared his dietary change while discussing the film, which takes place years after the original story and sees Galinda (Grande) as a public figure and Elphaba (Erivo) as a hunted activist. He noted the uncommon opportunity to take on increasingly “fertile and juicy and interesting and relevant roles” later in his career.
The influence of fellow actors on dietary choices is not uncommon. James Cromwell famously became a vegan on the second day of filming Babe in 1995 after being confronted with the reality of animal products on set.Actors like Sadie Sink,Thandiwe Newton, and Liam Hemsworth have all credited Woody Harrelson with inspiring their own transitions to veganism.
Other high-profile vegan and vegetarian actors include Natalie Portman,Jessica Chastain,Brad Pitt,Tobey Maguire, and Zendaya. Joaquin Phoenix notably used his 2020 Oscar acceptance speech to advocate for the end of dairy farming, further highlighting the growing visibility of animal rights within the industry.
