Bears Cornerback Jaylon Johnson, Linebacker T.J. Edwards Expected too Return Against Lions
The Chicago Bears are poised to get two key defensive players back on the field Sunday against the Detroit Lions. Cornerback Jaylon johnson and linebacker T.J. Edwards, both sidelined due to injury, are trending towards playing, providing a significant boost to the Bears’ defence.
Johnson missed Week 1 with a hamstring injury, and Edwards was limited in practices leading up to the game. However, both players have shown positive progress this week. Edwards was a limited participant in Wednesday and thursday’s practices before practicing fully on Friday.Johnson noted Edwards “looks very good” compared to last week, adding, “T.J. Edwards is coming along just fine.”
Defensive tackle Grady Jarrett (knee) is listed as questionable, having been limited in Friday’s practice after missing Wednesday and Thursday. Receiver Jahdae Walker (ankle) is doubtful, after practicing in a limited fashion Wednesday and Thursday but not participating Friday.
Nickel back Kyler Gordon (hamstring) is the only Bear ruled out for Sunday’s game, marking his second consecutive absence.Nick mccloud started in Gordon’s place against the vikings, playing 82% of the defensive snaps. Other players previously dealing with injuries-receiver DJ Moore (abdomen/groin), running back Roschon Johnson (foot), and cornerback Josh Blackwell (groin)-are expected to make their 2024 debuts against Detroit.
