Beyond his television presence, Mardones was a passionate sports enthusiast and a vocal advocate for mental health awareness within the media. Throughout his career,he spearheaded campaigns aimed at promoting the emotional well-being of communicators and served as a mentor to aspiring journalists.
Mardones Sanz dedicated nearly two decades of his career to Castilla y León Televisión (RTVCYL), where he held roles as an editor, digital editor, and television presenter, with a particular focus on sports coverage. His journalistic journey began in 2006 at Canal 4 Valladolid, prior to the establishment of RTVCYL.
His contributions extended to collaborations as a commentator for Cadena Ser and ABC Punto Radio. He also engaged with specialized media outlets connected to the Royal Spanish Skating Federation. Furthermore, Mardones served as the director of communication for the Dismeva CPLV sports clubs, which include online hockey, and the Cultural Classroom of Handball.He also held the position of president for the Olid Triathlon Team Univest – El Ventero, where he was also an active competitor.
