Jannik Sinner’s 16-match hard-court winning streak ended Tuesday with a 7-6 (4), 6-4 loss to Jakub Mensik in the Rotterdam Open, according to reports from Punto de Break.
The defeat marks Sinner’s first loss on hard courts since a defeat to Ben Shelton in Shanghai in October 2023. Sinner had previously defeated Shelton at the Australian Open in January, a match following which Sinner predicted Shelton would continue to improve, according to The Tennis Gazette.
Sinner’s game plan against Shelton at Wimbledon was previously reported by Sports Illustrated, but details of his strategy against Mensik in Rotterdam have not yet been released.
Shelton is scheduled to face Sinner again, with Tennis.com questioning whether Shelton can finally overcome his previous defeats against the Italian player.
