Jacksonville Road Rage Shooting: Man Dead on I-95 On-Ramp
A man died Sunday night following a shooting on Edgewood Avenue West near the on-ramp to Interstate 95 in Jacksonville, Florida, police reported. The Jacksonville Sheriff’s Office (JSO) responded to a call of a person shot at approximately 8:20 p.m. And found the victim, a man in his mid-30s, suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest.
Investigators determined the shooting stemmed from a road rage incident that began while both drivers were traveling west on Edgewood Avenue, according to Sergeant Steve Rudlaff of JSO’s homicide unit. The dispute escalated as both vehicles stopped on the I-95 North on-ramp. Both the victim and the suspect exited their vehicles and exchanged gunfire.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene by Jacksonville Fire and Rescue. Police are currently searching for the suspect, described as a male driving a small, silver SUV. Authorities are reviewing surveillance footage from the area and interviewing witnesses who remained at the scene, according to News4JAX.

Detectives were expected to remain at the scene for several hours processing evidence. As of Monday morning, the identity of the victim had not been released. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet located the suspect or the silver SUV.
