Historic Recognition After Weekend Sweep

Swafford earned national distinction after leading the Blue Jays through a three-match winning streak that culminated in victories over Scranton and St. John Fisher at the Hopkins Invitational. Over the course of eight sets during the tournament, she posted 43 kills—averaging 5.38 per set—while maintaining an impressive .422 hitting percentage. Her dominant offensive output was complemented by seven aces and 22 digs, averaging 2.75 digs per set, which secured her well-deserved All-Tournament Team honors.

The accolades extended locally as well. In addition to her national AVCA recognition, the conference office named her the Centennial Conference Offensive Player of the Week. This dual recognition places her alongside a rare tier of program history. Swafford joins Simone Bliss in 2021, Natalie Aston in 2021, and Helena Swaak in 2023 as the only Johns Hopkins players ever to capture the AVCA Division III weekly national honor.

The senior outside hitter opened the weekend with a career-high 25 kills against Scranton, setting a formidable tone for the Blue Jays’ offense. She followed that performance up on the court with 18 kills on a blistering .500 hitting percentage during a swift sweep of St. John Fisher. That second outing did more than just secure a victory; it prolonged an ongoing offensive tear.

Her 18 kills against St. John Fisher pushed her recent three-match kill total to 67. According to program records, that stretch marks the most kills by any Johns Hopkins player over a three-match span in at least the last 10 years.
