Ivan Sosa Signs With EF Education-EasyPost for 2027 Season
After a two-year stint with the Spanish ProTeam Equipo Kern Pharma, Iván Ramiro Sosa is set to head back to the UCI WorldTour with EF Education–EasyPost in 2027.
The 28-year-old Colombian climber signed with the squad to bolster their high-mountain roster following the departure of general classification leader Richard Carapaz, who moved to NSN Cycling. EF Education–EasyPost CEO Jonathan Vaughters noted that Sosa is recovering his best form after enduring a difficult stretch in previous seasons.
Ivan is on his way to firing on all cylinders for the first time in a few years,
Vaughters said in the team announcement. He’s going to be a huge help to our team when we’re racing in the high mountains.
Rebuilding Form Through Surgery and 2026 Results
Sosa spent six seasons in the WorldTour with Team Sky, INEOS Grenadiers, and Movistar before dropping down to the Spanish ProTeam ranks with Kern Pharma. His results dipped significantly during his later years at Movistar, but a major turning point arrived after he underwent iliac artery surgery in 2025.

Following the operation, Sosa captured a mountain stage and finished second overall at the Tour of Türkiye in April 2026, marking his first professional win since the 2022 Tour of Langkawi, according to ProCyclingUK. His comeback gained further momentum as he took second place at the Mercan’Tour Classic Alpes-Maritimes and claimed the runner-up spot in the Colombian national road race championship.
During August’s Vuelta a España, Sosa joined a 44-rider breakaway on stage 14 and finished fourth on the demanding slopes of Sierra de La Pandera, crossing the line 14 seconds behind stage winner Marco Brenner. He also secured two top-10 stage finishes during the Spanish grand tour.
Fitting Into the 2027 EF Education–EasyPost Roster
Sosa expressed optimism about rejoining the top tier of professional cycling alongside fellow new arrivals Tao Geoghegan Hart and Emil Herzog.
I’ve heard great things about EF Education–EasyPost from riders on the team,
Sosa said. I think the team gave me the opportunity – and will continue to give me the opportunity – to come back and take that leap forward.
Vaughters emphasized that Sosa's ability to manage breakaways and survive deep into grueling mountain stages matches the team's aggressive racing philosophy. The Colombian’s contract secures his place on the squad through the 2027 season as the team reconfigures its climbing department.
