CSU⁣ Vikings Make‍ Strong Showing at ITA All-American Championships

CHICAGO,‍ IL – Several Cleveland State⁤ University men’s tennis‌ players advanced ⁣through rounds​ at the ITA All-American​ Championships, held October 19-22, 2023, demonstrating the program’s growing competitiveness‌ on a national stage. The tournament, a cornerstone of⁤ the collegiate tennis calendar, draws top players⁤ from across ⁢the country, providing a crucial early-season‌ test and seeding⁣ opportunities ‍for later championships.

The Vikings⁢ began with success in​ doubles play, as Maxime Aremon and Tristan Stine defeated the Drexel duo of Giles and ​Cano with a score of 6-4. ⁤In‍ the opening round of singles competition, Nico ⁤jamison overcame Dimitri Moriarty of Western Michigan in a tightly contested match, 6-4, 6-7(5), 1-0(3). Aremon​ also secured a victory against⁣ Matej Kajzer of Western Michigan, winning ⁤6-0, 5-7, 1-0(7), while Devin Boyer battled past​ Jack⁣ Davison of Western⁣ michigan,‍ 7-5, 5-7, 1-0(6). Cole Chappel added ​to CSU’s success with a 6-4, 6-4 win⁤ over Oscar ​Corwin of Western Michigan, and Stine defeated Arnesh Singh ⁢of Butler, 6-7(4), 6-2, 1-0(2).

The second round of singles play saw mixed results for the Vikings. Tim Riedel​ of Western Michigan defeated Chappel,⁤ 6-4, 6-2. Thomas Giles ‌of Drexel edged past Aremon in a three-set match,‍ 4-6, 6-2, 1-0(8).Boyer continued‍ his strong performance, defeating Rahulniket Konakanchi of​ Butler, 6-2, 6-7(4), 1-0(9).Though, Nico Jamison fell to Evan Lee of Notre Dame, 6-2, ⁣6-1, and Sven Moser of Drexel defeated Tristan⁢ Stine, 6-2, 7-5.
