Israel’s Ceasefire Violations: Rising Casualties and Aid Blockade
Ceasefire Violations Reported in Gaza as hostage Body Identified, Aid Remains Scarce
Gaza’s media office reports israel has violated the current ceasefire 47 times, resulting in the deaths of 38 Palestinians, as of Saturday.
Netanyahu’s office confirmed the body of deceased hostage Eliyahu Margalit was returned overnight by Hamas and that he intends to run in next year’s elections. Israel has returned the bodies of 15 Palestinians to Gaza, bringing the total to 135, according to the health ministry. Doctors at Nasser hospital in Khan Younis reported the returned bodies showed signs of torture and execution, including blindfolds, cuffed hands, and bullet wounds to the head.
Humanitarian agencies warn that aid remains critically scarce in Gaza one week into the ceasefire, with Israel delaying the entry of food convoys. The Palestinian embassy in Egypt announced Palestinian citizens in Egypt wishing to return to Gaza will be able to travel via the Rafah crossing starting Monday.
In a separate incident, an Israeli strike on a construction vehicle in southern Lebanon killed one man, according to the Lebanese health ministry. Israel has continued to bomb Lebanon despite a November ceasefire intended to end over a year of hostilities with Hezbollah, including two months of open war.
