Israel Deploys Iron Dome Air Defense to UAE

U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations Mike Waltz has confirmed that Israel deployed its Iron Dome missile defense system to the United Arab Emirates to intercept Iranian missiles.

Speaking at an Independence Day event hosted by the Israeli Mission to the United Nations in New York, Waltz stated, “We saw the UAE make use of the Iron Dome provided to it by Israel.” The remarks mark the first official confirmation that the defense hardware was utilized by the UAE during recent hostilities with Iran.

The deployment included more than just the hardware. Mike Huckabee, the U.S. Ambassador to Israel, also verified that Israel sent both Iron Dome batteries and the specialized personnel necessary to operate the systems to the UAE to defend the country.

This military cooperation occurs as the United Arab Emirates strengthens its strategic alignment with both Israel and the United States. The move comes in response to the UAE being singled out by Iran, prompting Abu Dhabi to double down on its security ties with its Western and regional partners.

The provision of the Iron Dome is part of a broader shift in Israel’s defense export strategy. Israel has begun ramping up the issuance of export licenses for its air defense systems, a trend that extends beyond its arrangements with the UAE to include other international partners.

While the specific terms of the deployment and the number of systems transferred have not been disclosed, the move signals a transition from diplomatic normalization to active military integration in the face of Iranian regional threats.

The Israeli government has not specified which other nations are receiving the expanded air defense export licenses.
