Israeli forces intensified their operations in Gaza on Tuesday, July 22nd, extending ground incursions into the central Deir El-balah area. The latest Israeli offensive resulted in at least 15 fatalities.
Mahmud Bassal, spokesperson for the Gaza Civil Defence Agency, informed AFP that Israeli strikes on the Al-Shati camp, west of Gaza City, claimed the lives of at least 13 individuals.
The same attack left over 50 others wounded.
Bassal also confirmed two additional deaths from an attack in Deir el-Balah, a region where the Israeli military announced an expansion of its ground operations following evacuation orders for moast of the area.
The ongoing conflict has forced the majority of Gaza’s population to relocate at least once in the past 21 months. The Al-Shati Camp, situated on the Mediterranean coast, currently shelters thousands displaced from the northern Gaza Strip, residing in tents and temporary accommodations.
Raed Bakr,a 30-year-old resident of the camp who lives with his three children,recounted hearing a “devastating explosion” around 1:40 AM local time on Tuesday,July 22nd,which subsequently destroyed their tent.
