“One Battle After Another” received the Darryl F. Zanuck Award for Outstanding Producer of Theatrical Motion Picture from the Producers Guild of America on Saturday night, solidifying its position as a frontrunner in the lead-up to the Academy Awards on March 15.
The award, presented at a ceremony held at The Fairmont Century Plaza in Los Angeles, recognizes the film’s producers, Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe. The win extends a streak of accolades for the Paul Thomas Anderson-directed film, according to reports from The Modern York Times and Variety. The Producers Guild Awards have correctly predicted the Academy Award for Best Picture in the last five years.
The Producers Guild Awards also honored several industry figures, including Amy Pascal with the David O. Selznick Achievement Award in Theatrical Motion Pictures and Jason Blum with the Milestone Award. Mara Brock Akil received the Norman Lear Achievement Award in Television. The ceremony featured a performance by comedian Gabe Gibbs and a reading by Ike Barinholtz.
Paul Thomas Anderson used his acceptance speech to pay tribute to Warner Bros. Pictures co-chairmen Michael De Luca and Pam Abdy, acknowledging the challenges facing the studio amid its parent company Warner Bros. Discovery’s recent restructuring. “Whatever the road lies ahead — your work this year is so spectacular. I share this with you. Long may you wave, whatever the future holds. It is one battle after another,” Anderson said, as reported by Variety.
Other nominees for the Darryl F. Zanuck Award included producers of “KPop Demon Hunters,” “The Pitt,” “The Studio,” “Adolescence,” and “The Traitors.” The awards ceremony was attended by a number of prominent actors and filmmakers, including Adam Scott, Chloé Zhao, Claire Danes, Emma Stone, Greta Gerwig, Timothée Chalamet, and Paul Mescal.
