iPhone 18 Pro features variable diaphragm and A20 Pro chip, BFMTV reports
The Apple iPhone 18 Pro has arrived on retail platforms, featuring a 6.3-inch Super Retina XDR display, a mobile aperture on its main camera, and the A20 Pro chip, bfmtv.com reported. Released on September 18, the smartphone is currently available for order on Amazon.
Amazon Sells iPhone 18 Pro in France
Amazon lists the 256GB model of the iPhone 18 Pro in Bordeaux for 1,479 euros, with the e-commerce platform directly handling both the sale and fulfillment of the device. Shipping is free across metropolitan France, and buyers are offered a 30-day return window if the hardware fails to meet their expectations.
The device builds on previous iterations by introducing a Super Retina XDR screen equipped with ProMotion technology capable of scaling up to 120 Hz for smoother visual scrolling. Thermal management has also been redesigned; the A20 Pro chip relies on a vapor chamber whose surface area has been tripled compared to prior models. This thermal upgrade allows the device to sustain performance during intensive tasks such as 4K video exporting.

Variable Diaphragm Improves Low-Light Camera Performance
The primary Fusion camera introduces a six-blade variable diaphragm to the iPhone lineup, offering four distinct settings ranging from f/1.48 to f/4. Early tests cited by bfmtv.com indicate that setting the lens wide open at f/1.48 significantly improves performance in low-light environments when compared to the iPhone 17 Pro Max.
Closing the diaphragm down to f/4 increases the depth of field, bringing groups of people into sharper focus even up to the third row. For video recording, users can manually select and adjust the aperture in real time to dictate which elements of the background blur out.
A20 Pro Chip Boosts Graphics and Battery Life
Apple states that the graphical processing unit on the A20 Pro operates up to 40% faster than the GPU found in the iPhone 17 Pro. Combined with the expanded vapor chamber, the hardware is designed to handle extended gaming and creative workloads.
Battery longevity has similarly increased, delivering up to three additional hours of video playback compared to the iPhone 17 Pro. Using a compatible wired fast-charging adapter, the battery recovers 50% of its charge in approximately 15 minutes.
