The No. 5 Iowa State Cyclones (21-2, 8-2 Big 12) face the TCU Horned Frogs (14-9, 4-6 Big 12) Tuesday night at Schollmaier Arena in Fort Worth, Texas. The game, scheduled for 8 p.m. CT, will be broadcast on FS1 with Rob Stone and Casey Jacobsen providing commentary.
Iowa State enters the contest freshly back in the AP Top 5, having defeated Baylor 72-69 at home on February 7th. Despite leading by as many as 15 points late in the game, a Baylor surge made the final moments tighter. The Cyclones are currently ranked in the AP Top 25 for 46 consecutive weeks, marking the fifth-longest streak nationally and the second-longest in the Big 12, trailing only Houston’s 120-week run.
TCU is coming off a narrow 70-68 victory over Kansas State, marking their third win in the last five games. According to ESPN’s BPI, the Horned Frogs have the easiest remaining schedule of any team in the Big 12 conference. TCU Head Coach Jamie Dixon is in his tenth year leading the program, boasting a 190-135 record with the Horned Frogs and a 518-258 overall record in his 23-year head coaching career.
Iowa State’s strong start to the season saw them achieve a program-best 16-0 record. Their current 21-2 record represents the best mark through 23 games in program history. The Cyclones will continue their road trip following the TCU game, with upcoming matchups against No. 9 Kansas, and No. 3 Houston.
The Horned Frogs were initially picked to finish tenth out of 16 teams in the Big 12 preseason poll, following a season where they tied for ninth place. During conference play, TCU ranks second in the Big 12 in free throws made and attempted, though their free throw percentage is 13th in the conference.
Iowa State will be looking to limit fouling, as TCU draws a significant number of fouls. The Cyclones have been successful in limiting opponent free throw attempts during Big 12 play and will aim to continue that trend.
