Iowa Rally Restored: President Trump to Visit Dubuque Sunday
President Donald Trump will travel to Dubuque, Iowa, for an in-person campaign rally on Sunday, reversing an abrupt Republican National Committee decision that had scrapped the trip just hours earlier in favor of a series of virtual events, radioiowa.com reported.
The campaign stop puts the candidate back on the ground in the critical Midwestern state. Voters planning to attend the event must RSVP to secure entry, KCRG reported.
Cancellation and Reversal Timeline in Dubuque
The Republican National Committee announced late Thursday night that Trump’s in-person rallies scheduled for the weekend in Dubuque and Kansas were cancelled. The plan at that time was for Trump to instead hold tele-rallies in Iowa and 18 other states.
That plan shifted again by Friday morning. Multiple sources indicated to KCRG-TV9 that the rescheduled Sunday rally would move to Cedar Rapids instead. Local authorities in Dubuque, including the city police department, stated Friday morning that they had not been informed of a rescheduling, according to KCRG.
By Friday afternoon, the Republican National Committee clarified the scheduling confusion. The RNC updated media outlets to confirm that the rally will return to its original venue at the Five Flags Event Center in Dubuque, radioiowa.com reported.
