IOI City Mall: Southeast Asia’s Largest Mall – A 3.5hr Drive from Singapore

March 24, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

Putrajaya, Malaysia – IOI City Mall has been officially recognized as the largest mall in Southeast Asia, boasting 2.5 million square feet of retail space and a total size of 8.8 million square feet, according to a report published Tuesday.

The sprawling complex, located approximately 3.5 hours south of Singapore, dwarfs other regional shopping destinations, including Singapore’s VivoCity, which encompasses 1.5 million square feet. The comparison highlights the significant scale difference, with IOI City Mall being nearly six times the size of its Singaporean counterpart.

Beyond its sheer size, IOI City Mall aims to provide a comprehensive lifestyle and entertainment experience. The mall features District 21, an apocalyptic-themed adventure park, and an indoor educational farm housing over 130 species of exotic animals and plants. It also includes Malaysia’s premier Olympic-sized ice rink.

With over 700 outlets, the mall offers a diverse range of shopping options, from high-street fashion to large homeware stores. The current exchange rate, hovering around 1 Singaporean dollar to 3.07 Malaysian ringgit, presents potential savings for Singaporean shoppers, with prices often 30 to 40 percent lower than those found in Singapore’s Orchard Road district.

The mall also boasts over 16,000 parking bays and is situated near hotels such as Moxy Putrajaya and Le Méridien, facilitating longer visits and staycations. Nearby attractions include the Putra Mosque and botanical gardens, adding to the appeal for tourists and local visitors alike. The mall also features Malaysia’s largest cinema, with 26 screens and a dedicated children’s playground.

IOI City Mall also includes over 200 cafes and restaurants along Symphony Walk, offering a variety of dining options.
