Inzaghi Explains Benzema-Simon Choice in Al-Hilal’s 6-0 Win | Saudi League
Al-Hilal coach Simone Inzaghi defended his starting lineup choices after a dominant 6-0 victory over Al-Akhdoud, explaining his decision to feature both Karim Benzema and Saleh Al-Shehri was a “technical choice.” The win solidified Al-Hilal’s position atop the Roshn Saudi League standings in the 21st round of the competition.
In a post-match press conference, Inzaghi praised his players’ performance, stating, “I commend my team’s players for delivering a good match and playing with high seriousness, and organization.” He acknowledged Al-Akhdoud’s competitive spirit, noting they “played well and were defensively organized, but after the first goal, we were able to create opportunities and spaces and score.”
Regarding his attacking options, Inzaghi clarified that even as the squad includes both Neymar and Marcos, his selection of Benzema and Al-Shehri for this particular match was a purely tactical decision. The coach did not elaborate on the specific reasoning behind favoring the French and Saudi Arabian attackers over their teammates.
Looking ahead, Inzaghi highlighted the importance of the upcoming challenges in the AFC Champions League, stating, “The competition in the AFC Champions League is very important, and we are focusing on it seriously. During the remaining two matches, we will strive to reach the best possible form.”
Inzaghi also touched upon the team’s winter reinforcements, emphasizing the goal is to compete strongly in all available competitions. He did not specify which players were considered key additions or how they are expected to impact the team’s performance.
