Investment group linked to Vaca Muerta eyes logistics expansion in San Juan

October 14, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

An investment group linked to Vaca Muerta is eyeing expansion in San Juan beyond its current logistics depot development for Mercado Libre, pointing to new opportunities around the Domingo Faustino Sarmiento airport, diariodecuyo.com.ar reported.

Expanding Beyond Mercado Libre in Las Chacritas

Construction is already underway on a transfer center in Las Chacritas, located in the 9 de Julio department. The facility will operate for Mercado Libre, scaling up operations from between 70 and 72 daily shipments to a projected baseline of more than 200 parcels once open. The initial footprint covers 4,000 square meters, with the possibility of expanding the surface up to 12,000 square meters. Operations are slated to launch between April and May of 2027. Yet the project’s financial backers, Santa Fe-based investment firm ZLT, have signaled to the provincial Ministry of Production that they intend to utilize adjacent land acquisitions for additional logistics initiatives. Ellos también nos han manifestado algunos proyectos que tienen, además de este depósito, este centro de transferencia que va a operar para Mercado Libre y que ya está en obra. Están estudiando otros proyectos logísticos justamente para ese lugar, sources from the ministry stated to DIARIO DE CUYO, confirming that the firm recently developed 103 lots that are ready to operate.

Highway Project Connects Santa Lucía and Caucete

The strategic choice of the 9 de Julio site uses its proximity to both the airport and the existing Ruta 20 corridor. This logistical advantage stands to gain from a planned 180 million dollar highway project announced by Marcelo Orrego. Funded partially through an international bond issuance of 600 million dollars, the 24.5-kilometer autopista will connect Santa Lucía and Caucete across a 36-month construction timeline. Government officials note that the corridor is attracting heightened attention, pointing to an existing logistics hub operated by a major transport firm from Córdoba within the same department. Esa zona se va a ver potenciada después del último anuncio del gobernador de la autopista Caucete-San Juan, officials noted, highlighting how the infrastructure will feature two lanes in each direction across the 24.5-kilometer stretch of Ruta 20 to improve circulation and road safety.
