Interpol Debut New Song “See Out Loud” & Update on Drummer Sam Fogarino
Interpol debuted a new song, “See Out Loud,” during a concert at Audio in São Paulo, Brazil, on March 19, 2026, signaling the start of a new musical chapter for the New York-based band. The performance came after the group announced earlier this month that new music was on the horizon, following a period of celebrating the 20th anniversaries of their acclaimed albums, Turn On The Bright Lights and Antics.
The debut of “See Out Loud” occurred during the band’s set at Audio, and was repeated the following night at Lollapalooza Brasil, according to reports. Fan-captured footage circulating online suggests a stylistic shift, with some observers noting the song’s danceable qualities and a sound reminiscent of their 2002 album, Antics [Consequence]. Guitarist Daniel Kessler likewise took on rare vocal duties during a synth-laden section of the song, a departure from the band’s typical dynamic led by vocalist Paul Banks.
The new music arrives as Interpol continues to navigate a temporary lineup change. Drummer Sam Fogarino, a member of the band since 2000, co-wrote and performed on the forthcoming record, but remains unable to tour. Fogarino underwent spinal surgery in 2023, and his continued recovery has led to Urian Hackney taking his place behind the kit. The band has emphasized that Fogarino’s absence is temporary [ReadDork], and that he remains an integral part of the band’s creative process.
Interpol’s most recent studio album, The Other Side of Make-Believe, was released in 2022. The band is currently touring in support of the new material, with upcoming performances scheduled at Coachella in April, and tours planned across the UK, Europe, and Australia later in the year. They will also be supporting Deftones on tour in Australia and New Zealand in May, and will share the stage with My Chemical Romance in Italy later this summer.
The band’s touring schedule also includes a co-headlining run with Bloc Party across the UK and Europe, with two dates scheduled at the British Airways ARC in London. The Armed’s Chris Broome is currently filling in on drum duties while Fogarino recovers [ReadDork].
As of March 21, 2026, Interpol has not announced a release date for the full album featuring “See Out Loud,” leaving fans awaiting further details on the project’s completion and distribution [Stereogum].
