India’s Fight Against TB: Nadda Calls for Elimination & Better Health | World Tuberculosis Day
Recent Delhi – Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda today presided over a national-level event commemorating World Tuberculosis (TB) Day 2026, calling for a concerted effort to eliminate the disease and improve public health, particularly for vulnerable populations.
The event, held on March 24th, marks a renewed commitment to the National TB Elimination Programme, according to statements released by the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare. Nadda highlighted the progress India has made in prevention, detection and treatment of TB, attributing success to the program’s strengthened initiatives.
This year’s theme, “Yes! We Can End TB. Led by Bharat. Powered by Janbhagidari,” underscores the nation’s collective determination to achieve a TB-free future, Nadda stated in a social media post. He expressed gratitude to healthcare workers for their dedication and compassionate care in the fight against the disease.
The Ministry is launching a 100-day campaign, “TB Mukt Bharat,” as part of the World TB Day observance, aiming to accelerate efforts towards eliminating tuberculosis across the country, according to DD News.
Nadda acknowledged the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in driving the National TB Elimination Programme forward. He emphasized the importance of continued collaboration and citizen participation to achieve the program’s goals.
The national event serves as a platform to reaffirm India’s commitment to ending TB and ensuring a healthier, stronger nation, with a focus on reaching those most at risk.
