India-U.K. Animation ‘The Assassin’ Co-Production Venture

Chhota Bheem‘ Studio Green Gold animation Teams with Red Kite for Adult Animated Action Film ‘The Assassin’

HYDERABAD, INDIA – ⁢Green Gold Animation, the Indian studio behind the popular “Chhota ⁤Bheem” franchise, is expanding into adult-oriented animation⁣ with a co-production partnership with U.K.-based Red Kite Animation.The collaboration will⁢ bring to life “The Assassin,” an ultra-cinematic action film set in a near-future metropolis, currently in active advancement.

The project ‍marks​ a creative‌ departure for ‌Green Gold, ‌known for⁤ its family-friendly content. “The Assassin” follows a ​young man driven to change and rebellion after a ⁣devastating industrial ⁤tragedy, challenging corporate ⁢power ⁢within the city.

martyn Pick, director of⁢ the CGI action-animation feature ​”Ultramarines: A Warhammer⁤ 40,000 ⁢Movie” (2010),⁤ will write and direct the film.Script editing‌ will be handled⁤ by Martha MacDiarmid, whose previous work includes “nessie Junior,” continuing a creative relationship ‍with Red Kite.

“‘The Assassin’ is an‌ ultra⁢ cinematic action film that uses bold 21c century⁤ visuals to give the audience ‌a ⁤visceral experience of the ‍hero’s physical and psychological​ journey,” Pick stated. “For ⁢me it is the culmination of a career fusing ​animation and live action for maximum expressive power within the dynamic power of genre and commercial storytelling. Red Kite have superb insight, both⁣ commercial and creative, about animation and film both⁢ as storytelling ⁢and as⁢ a visual medium. ‍Green Gold ‌combine ⁢outstanding artistic ⁤skill ⁢and understanding with a powerful pipeline. They are the perfect partners to realize the Assassin’s remarkable ​vision.”

Visual development is being led by Pick‍ in ⁣collaboration with Green Gold’s design team in Hyderabad, establishing the film’s stylistic foundation.

The film aims to qualify under the India-U.K. ‌Co-Production Treaty, with production planned across both countries.Financing will include the U.K.’s Autonomous Film Tax​ Credit, with both ⁤studios participating as equitable ​partners throughout development, ⁢production, and distribution. The ⁣project will utilize a combination‍ of guerrilla live-action, rotoscoping, and ‍high-end animation techniques.
