NORMAL, Ill. – The Illinois State Redbirds narrowly defeated the Northern Illinois Huskies 192.700 to 192.650 in a gymnastics meet held Monday night at Horton Fieldhouse, securing a reach-from-behind victory.
The Redbirds’ win was propelled by a strong finish on the floor exercise, overcoming an early lead established by Northern Illinois. NIU had held a small advantage after the first rotation, according to reports.
The meet marked the final regular season home competition for Illinois State. Five Huskies reached the podium at the Illinois State meet, according to Northern Illinois University reporting.
Northern Illinois University’s gymnastics team previously competed at Illinois State on February 23rd, kicking off their week with the road meet. The Redbirds are scheduled to continue competition, with details available on their athletics website.
