IKEA Announces Exclusive Holiday Collection with Swedish Designer Gustaf Westman
BÄCKEBOL, Sweden – IKEA is set to launch a limited-edition collection in collaboration with acclaimed Swedish designer Gustaf Westman, arriving September 26, 2025. The festive range focuses on creating atmosphere and celebrating traditions surrounding food and togetherness, offering a modern take on classic holiday décor.
The collaboration marks a significant partnership for IKEA, tapping Westman’s signature style – characterized by playful forms and a focus on functionality – to reimagine seasonal staples. This year’s collection is notably notable as it coincides with the 40th anniversary of IKEA’s iconic meatballs, honored with a specially designed meatball plate.
The collection features a porcelain set including a cup and barrel specifically designed for glögg (mulled wine),alongside candlesticks in both traditional and modern candelabra styles. Westman also introduces a unique vase constructed from a single metal spiral, holding a separate glass container.
“For many in Sweden, Christmas is not Christmas without meatballs,” Westman explains. “This plate is my interpretation of that tradition. It is indeed a simple, fun idea that is designed to honor the meatballs – but it also works perfectly for many other things.”
Westman further elaborates on his design beliefs, stating, “A rounded shape has no clear end, which I think gives an object more life… It’s that feeling of being a little unnecessary, but in a fun way.”
The Gustaf Westman collection will be available for purchase online at ikea.se and in select IKEA stores beginning September 26, 2025.
