Liverpool Manager Arne Slot Admits Current Form “No Fun,” Vows to Turn Tide
ROTTERDAM – Liverpool manager arne Slot has expressed surprise and frustration with the team’s recent struggles, admitting he “did not think I would end up in this situation.” The candid remarks come as Liverpool faces scrutiny for a Premier League campaign falling short of expectations, despite a strong showing in the Champions League.
Slot, appointed this season, acknowledged the unfamiliarity of losing for a club historically accustomed to success. While Liverpool secured three wins in four Champions League matches, including a recent 1-0 victory against Real Madrid earlier this month, their domestic form has been inconsistent. The team narrowly avoided dropped points with late goals earlier in the season, but recent results, including losses for Crystal Palace in both the Premier League and League Cup, highlight a concerning trend.
“It is indeed also in my character and most people know me as a calm person when things are going well,” Slot stated. “I calmly analyze when things are going well and badly. But this situation is no fun, I cannot reccommend it. Let alone at a club that is not used to losing.”
Slot emphasized his commitment to addressing the issues, stating,”I take and feel duty.” He noted the club’s history of resilience and the unwavering support of its fanbase, adding, “As a coach I also try to work harder, the players do the same and our fans will support the team from start to finish.”
Despite the downturn, Slot maintains confidence in his squad, pointing to a strong first half-hour performance against Nottingham Forest as evidence of progress. He identified a key area for improvement: “The number of goals conceded is the big difference. Especially from standard situations.” He also clarified he isn’t focused on statistics, but recognizes the current performance is “well below liverpool’s standard, including mine.”
