“I don’t want a new Call of Duty deal. I just want to block their merger.”

The Competition and Markets Authority published a new document yesterday, which clearly shows that Sony will not give up and still does not agree to acquire a company responsible for such famous brands as Call of Duty, Diablo or Overwatch. The manufacturer of PlayStation notes that after the conclusion of the contract, the developers can sabotage the versions of Call of Duty for PS5 and PS4, moreover, they refer to the proposal of the Americans – to refuse to add the series to PS Plus.

The case was commented on by Lulu Cheng Meservey, the head of Activision Blizzard, who had previously criticized Sony’s staunch resistance to posting an overly crude meme and encouraged FTC officials to watch “The Last of Us” series.

Currently, a representative of Activision Blizzard has admitted that the Redmond giant is at the service of the Japanese A 10-year contract for Call of Duty with much better terms, quoting the PlayStation boss:

Microsoft offered Sony (which had dominated the game console market for over a decade with an 80% market share) a 10-year deal on far better terms than Sony could get from us.

We also gave Sony guaranteed long-term access to Call of Duty.

But they still refuse.

Because?”

The general director of SIE answered this question in Brussels.

In his own words:

I don’t want a new Call of Duty deal. I just want to prevent their merger.”

On February 21, in a meeting with officials in Brussels, Jim Ryan reportedly said this He doesn’t really care about Call of Duty, and his job is to block Microsoft’s deal with Activision Blizzard. This statement somewhat contradicts the promoted view, according to which the producer feared that the condition of the PlayStation community would worsen if the Americans restricted access to games only to their platforms.
