Hyundai Ioniq 3 tested in Turkey by journalists

Hyundai Ioniq 3 tested in Turkey by journalists

October 7, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Hyundai has introduced its new small electric vehicle, the Ioniq 3, to journalists during initial test drives in Turkey, where the vehicle is produced alongside the i20 and Bayon models at the company’s Izmit factory, zpravy.aktualne.cz reported.

According to zpravy.aktualne.cz, the Ioniq 3’s chassis filters out most surface irregularities without feeling overly soft, though it maintains a comfortable and fluid ride quality that distinguishes it from firmer competitors.

Ioniq 3 Features 99.5 kW Motor and Aerodynamic Design

Built on a 400V version of the E-GMP platform, the Ioniq 3 features front-wheel drive powered by a 99.5 kW electric motor delivering 250 Nm of torque. The initial test fleet utilized the Prime trim level, which pairs exclusively with a usable 61 kWh NMC battery pack.

The powertrain achieves a 0 to 100 km/h acceleration time of 9.5 seconds, with a top speed rated at 170 km/h. zpravy.aktualne.cz noted that while highway acceleration above 130 km/h demands more effort, the vehicle’s aerodynamic efficiency—featuring a drag coefficient of 0.263, active grille shutters in the front bumper, and a rear spoiler—helped achieve a tested consumption rate of 14 kWh per 100 kilometers over a 250-kilometer test route. The official paper range for the 61 kWh battery reaches 484 kilometers.

Charging capabilities include a maximum DC charging power of 110 kW, requiring approximately 30 minutes to transition from 10 to 80 percent capacity. For home charging, Hyundai offers an optional 22-kW onboard charger that comes standard or bundled in select packages alongside Vehicle-to-Load (V2L) functionality.

An alternative LFP battery option with a usable capacity of 42.2 kWh provides up to 344 kilometers of range. This configuration utilizes a 108 kW electric motor that reduces the 0–100 km/h sprint by 0.8 seconds and supports peak charging speeds of up to 119 kW, though replenishment from 10 to 80 percent takes 29 minutes.

Ioniq 3 Offers Expanded Interior Room and Cargo Space

Despite maintaining a compact footprint measuring 4,155 millimeters in length and 1,800 millimeters in width, the Ioniq 3 offers interior room exceeding that of the larger i30 model, according to zpravy.aktualne.cz. This space utilization stems from a 2,680-millimeter wheelbase that expands rear legroom.

Trunk capacity reaches 441 liters, bolstered by a 119-liter under-floor storage compartment known as the mega box. Folding the rear seats flat expands total cargo capacity to 1,213 liters.

The dashboard introduces a new layout featuring a narrow 9.9-inch digital instrument cluster paired with either a 12.9-inch or 14.6-inch central touchscreen, depending on the trim level. Operating on an Android Automotive software base, the infotainment system integrates Google data for directions and point-of-interest details, alongside an application marketplace supporting services like Spotify and YouTube. Physical climate control buttons remain on the center console.
