Huzhou’s Thriving Performing Arts Economy: A New Growth Model

February 16, 2026 Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor Entertainment

The 2026 Huzhou Spring Culture and Tourism Season officially launched on February 6th at the Taihu Performing Arts City in Changxing County, Huzhou, according to a statement released by the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism.

The launch event was attended by Chen Guangcheng, Party Secretary and Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, and Chen Hao, Party Secretary of Huzhou City, who delivered welcoming remarks. Also present were Li Xinfang, member of the Party Group and Deputy Director of the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism, as well as Jin Kai and Lou Ting, Vice Mayor and Vice Chairman of the Huzhou People’s Congress respectively.

Officials from the Huzhou Municipal Bureau of Culture, Radio, Television and Tourism have stated that the city’s performing arts economy is developing along four key lines: leading cluster areas, enhanced performances within tourist attractions, coordinated music festivals and concerts, and the integration of digital technologies. The Taihu Performing Arts City is positioned as a central hub for this growth.

This development comes as Huzhou increasingly attracts visitors from the Yangtze River Delta region specifically for its performing arts offerings, becoming a destination “for a performance, a city visited,” according to a bureau representative. Upcoming events include the Dalu Youth Music Festival, scheduled for March 14-15 in Changxing, and the Yes Taihu Carnival and Waterwood Anniversary Concert Series, set to take place at the Wu Xing Taihu Shugang Scenic Area in April. A Chinese golden song concert is also planned for the Huzhou Grand Theatre.

The integration of digital technology is also being emphasized, with officials noting its potential to “grant imagination wings” to the performing arts sector. The Huzhou cultural bureau highlights local attractions including the Datang Gong Tea House, Xishi Ancient Town, Moganshan Jun’anli Resort Hotel, Angji ClubmedJoyview Resort, the “Three Streets” of Huzhou, the Taihu Ancient Town Fireworks Show, Taihu Longchi Dreamland, Moganshan Autumn Colors, and the night and morning views of Nanxun Ancient Town.
