Hungarian Anglers Rescued After Boat Capsizes on Danube River
Two fishermen were rescued from the Danube River near Dömsöd, Hungary, on Friday evening after their boat capsized in water temperatures of approximately 6-7 degrees Celsius. One of the men, a 59-year-old, required resuscitation, according to reports from RTL Híradó.
The incident occurred as the two men were fishing. Alerted by their cries for help, two nearby individuals responded in a motorboat, pulling both fishermen from the frigid water. They immediately began resuscitation efforts on the unconscious man, guided by instructions from a dispatch operator, RTL Híradó reported.
By the time rescuers reached shore, the 59-year-old had regained consciousness. He was able to communicate with his companion, who was as well transported to a hospital but had been discharged by the time of reporting, according to Blikk.
“They just did their job,” rescuers told RTL Híradó, downplaying their role in the life-saving operation. The quick response of the civilian rescuers was credited with preventing a potentially fatal outcome.
The Dömsöd Fishing Association has announced that the 2026 fishing license fees and regulations remain unchanged from the previous year, according to a notice on their website.
