Humphries Claims Third Prague Darts Open Title, Completes Hat-Trick

Prague, Czech Republic – Josh Humphries secured his third victory at the Czech Darts Open on Sunday, defeating his opponent to claim the title and solidify his position as the world number one. The win marks Humphries’ third triumph in Prague in the last four years, completing a hat-trick of victories at the tournament.

The final saw Humphries overcome an early deficit, turning a 3-5 scoreline into a 6-5 victory. A key moment in the match came when Humphries strategically prioritized outplaying his opponent over attempting challenging shots, as he explained, “Sometimes there’s no need to play the best arrows. Just beat your opponents.” He finished the match with an average of less than 94 points per three darts.

Humphries’ journey to the final included a semifinal win against James Wade, where he established a 7-1 lead. His opponent in the final had previously faced Luke Littler in Belgium and defeated Michael van Gerwen and Gian van Veen in Prague.

Despite a slow start, falling behind 0-2 initially, Humphries found his rhythm. “Josh probably thought it would be a toy for him. I had a very weak start, but I didn’t really mind.I always feel better when I can tighten it than when I lead. and that was confirmed,” Humphries stated.

The tournament drew excited crowds, with Humphries noting the exceptional support from Czech fans. “actually, I don’t even know why fans love me so much. I don’t really have such support elsewhere. It was special. I guess I won here for the third time out of four,” he said. He further praised the event, calling it “The most popular tournament for the whole Tour. No doubt. It should definitely be played here more than once a year. I want Premier League and other tournaments.”
