HP NearSense: On-Device AI & Google D2DI Integration Coming 2026
HP Inc. Today unveiled HP NearSense, a new connectivity experience designed to enable seamless device interoperability, with initial access planned for select AI PCs this spring. The announcement, made at HP Imagine 2026, centers on a collaboration with Google to expand the capabilities of Google’s Device-to-Device-Infrastructure (D2DI) technology.
HP NearSense aims to simplify the transfer of work between devices, addressing a common challenge for employees who frequently switch between platforms throughout the day, according to the company. The technology is intended to work across operating systems and brands, initially focusing on HP devices and Android platforms.
The first iteration of HP NearSense will debut on select AI PCs, with broader rollouts planned through HP IQ in Summer and the second half of 2026. Interoperability with Android devices is slated for later in 2026. HP NearSense will be integrated across HP’s portfolio, including EliteBook X G2 AI PCs, notebooks, desktops, Poly video bars, printers, and peripherals. The system utilizes on-device AI to facilitate discovery and sharing without relying on cloud services or additional applications.
The collaboration with Google extends the D2DI technology, aiming for consistent and secure connectivity. HP NearSense will enable bi-directional file sharing with Android devices without requiring any software or cloud connectivity.
HP did not disclose pricing or enterprise licensing details for HP NearSense at the time of the announcement.
