How the transport will work this Sunday for the primary 2025

Voters to Benefit From Public Transport Boost This Sunday

To ensure a smooth experience, authorities are providing transport reinforcements this Sunday, June 29, for the upcoming primary elections in 2025. This will aid citizens in getting to their polling places and returning home efficiently.

Enhanced Transport Services Planned

Public transport will receive additional support nationwide. The initiative aims to make it easier for voters to reach their designated voting locations, as well as head back to their homes. The Metropolitan Region will see changes in the Santiago Metro and Red System buses.

The primary elections are voluntary. Only one of the four official candidates – Gonzalo Winter, Jeannette Jara, Carolina Tohá, and Jaime Mulet – will advance to the November presidential elections.

Metro and Bus Adjustments in Santiago

The Network Mobility will increase the frequency of its buses by 15%, especially during the morning hours, when voting locations usually experience the highest influx. The Santiago Metro will also boost its services, maintaining its opening time at 07:30 hours.

“It will also reinforce its services, with opening hours that remains at 07:30 hours.”

—Official Statement

The city will also monitor the performance of transport and traffic around voting premises, with support from the presidential delegation, Carabineros, Seremi de Transportes and Telecomunicaciones, Municipalities, Senapred, the Bus Monitoring Center (CMB) of DTPM and Metro de Santiago. Approximately 6.7 million people are eligible to vote in the primary elections, according to recent estimates (Election Authority 2025).

Regional Transportation Plans

Special operations are set for the regions. Urban services will be reinforced in the Great Valparaíso and Punta Arenas. Other regulated areas will proceed with their standard Sunday plans. Subsidized services in rural and isolated areas will continue to operate as usual.

Traffic and transport monitoring will take place throughout the day to “promote the fluidity of transfers.” This will involve inter-institutional coordination. Coordination will be between the presidential delegation, Carabineros, Seremi de Transportes and Telecomunicaciones, Municipalities and Senapred.

EFE Operation

Efe will maintain its usual Sunday schedule, except for Efe Valparaíso, which will start operations at 07:00 in the morning.
