A recent Thurles racecard on December 20, 2025, highlighted a competitive field in the Adare Manor Opportunity Handicap Chase, with several horses vying for position. Luckinthecity, a six-year-old, was fifth of eight in a conditions chase at Listowel, making novicey mistakes and failing to make an impact. The horse is making its handicap chase debut, with first-time cheekpieces replacing a tongue strap, and is now under a fresh trainer.
Rushmount, an eight-year-old, secured a win in a hurdle race at the same Thurles course in March but finished fifth of eleven in a maiden chase over a similar distance 30 days ago. Trainer Jonathan Sweeney believes the horse may be capable of improved performance in a handicap chase.
Any Road, also eight years old, finished fifth of thirteen in a maiden chase at Fairyhouse seven days prior, demonstrating improvement over a previous start. The horse faces a significant increase in distance in the Thurles race.
Hitakp, another eight-year-old, has shown modest form in chases since a hurdle handicap win in March, finishing seventh of fifteen in a maiden chase at Cork 27 days ago. The horse will be sporting first-time cheekpieces.
Milan Fortht, a six-year-old, previously won twice in three starts over fences, including a victory at Down Royal in March 2025. Yet, the horse finished seventh of 29 in a conditions chase at Aintree 261 days ago, with jumping errors impacting its performance.
Elsewhere, Ehteyat secured a win at Listowel in September and recently finished third of 18 in a novice hurdle at Thurles 13 days ago. The horse has a useful background on the Flat and is considered interesting as it returns to this sphere.
