Honduran Election Official Condemns Unauthorized Release of Preliminary Results
TEGUCIGALPA, Honduras – november 30, 2025 - A Honduran election counselor, Ana Paola Hall, publicly denounced the illegal publication of preliminary results and any data related to the electoral trend during Sunday’s general election. Hall emphasized that only the National Electoral Council (CNE) is authorized to disclose such data.
“Responsibility must be deducted from those who engage in these practices,” hall insisted.
She also urged members of the Vote Receiving Boards (JRV) to remain at their posts until the conclusion of the voting process, including the closing of polls, vote counting, and transmission of official minutes and data.
“Take care of the popular will!” Hall urged, stressing the importance of a transparent process and safeguarding each stage of the count to ensure the results accurately reflect the decision of hondurans.
Hall reported that as of noon on Sunday, November 30, 1,019,608 registered voters had participated in the election, describing the turnout as “high.”
More than 6.5 million Hondurans are voting to decide the next president, with candidates including Rixi Moncada (Libre), Nasry Asfura (National), Salvador Nasralla (Liberal), and Nelson Ávila (Christian Democracy). The winner will succeed Xiomara Castro on January 27, 2026. These are the twelfth elections held in Honduras since the return to constitutional order in 1980, taking place under a state of exception in effect since December 2022.
