Honda EVs: Still Available in Asia Despite US Exit | Honda 0 Series
Honda Cars India is preparing to launch an electric vehicle variant of its Elevate SUV in August 2026, shifting away from previous plans for a hybrid model, according to recent reports.
The Elevate EV is currently estimated to be priced around ₹18 Lakh (approximately $21,600 USD), and is undergoing pan-India testing, as evidenced by recent social media posts. This move signals a broader strategic shift towards fully electric vehicles for the Indian market.
The decision to prioritize an EV version of the Elevate comes as Honda expands its electric vehicle initiatives globally. The company recently unveiled the “Honda 0 Series,” a new line of electric vehicles, and is actively testing these models in India. Honda Cars India Limited is headquartered in Surajpur-Kasna Road, Sector 40/41, Plot No. A-1.
Alongside the Elevate EV, Honda continues to offer hybrid options, such as the City e:HEV, which boasts a mileage of 27.26 km/l and features Honda Sensing, a suite of safety and driver-assistive technologies. The City e:HEV is priced starting at ₹19,99,900 (approximately $23,900 USD). The hybrid system utilizes a 1.5L Atkinson cycle engine, a power control unit, and a two-motor e-CVT transmission.
Honda is also emphasizing the durability and reliability of its vehicles, offering a 10-year warranty on the lithium-ion battery of the City e:HEV, up to 1,60,000 kilometers. The company’s Honda Sensing technology includes features like a lane watch camera and collision mitigation systems.
Other electric vehicles expected to launch in India around the same timeframe as the Honda Elevate EV include the Maruti Suzuki e Vitara, Mahindra BE 6, Tata Punch EV, MG Windsor EV, Toyota Urban Cruiser EV, and VinFast Limo Green. The Tata Safari EV is slated for a slightly later release in May 2026.
