Homey App: Slow Widget Loading on Samsung Galaxy A54 – Issue & Fixes?

March 22, 2026 Rachel Kim – Technology Editor Technology

Users of Samsung Galaxy A54 smartphones are reporting significant delays, and in some cases complete failures, when loading widgets onto their home screens. The issue, first noted by a user on an online community forum three weeks ago, appears to disproportionately affect widgets from third-party applications, particularly those related to home automation systems like Homey.

The original poster, identified as Rogier, detailed experiencing load times exceeding 30 seconds for widgets that previously loaded in under five seconds. Attempts to resolve the problem through conventional troubleshooting steps – clearing the application cache and restarting the device – proved unsuccessful. Rogier as well indicated that replacing a Homey Pro Early 2023 hub with a newer Homey Pro 2026 model did not alleviate the issue. He shared links to YouTube Shorts demonstrating the prolonged loading times and a fully loaded home screen for comparison.

Other users have since corroborated Rogier’s experience, with one individual noting similar reports across multiple platforms, including iOS. This suggests the problem may not be isolated to Samsung devices or the Homey ecosystem, but potentially linked to mobile application functionality and specific device configurations. A user with a Samsung Galaxy S24 FE and a Homey Pro 2019 reported not experiencing the same difficulties.

Samsung has not yet issued a public statement addressing the reported widget loading issues. According to Samsung’s US support website, Galaxy phones and tablets offer customization options including widgets, folders, and multiple home screens to help users organize their devices. The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G is currently available for purchase through Samsung and other retailers, and is marketed as an affordable smartphone option.

The Samsung Galaxy A54 5G features a glass back, utilizing Corning Gorilla Glass 5, and an IP67 rating for dust and water resistance. However, the phone’s frame is constructed from polycarbonate, a material some reviewers have noted as a potential compromise in build quality compared to aluminum frames found in competing devices.
