Cal Raleigh Crowned 2025 Home Run Derby Champion
Cal raleigh of the Seattle Mariners has emerged victorious in the 2025 Home Run Derby,defeating Junior Caminero in the final round. Raleigh secured the title by hitting 18 home runs to Caminero’s 15 in the championship matchup.
The competition saw a strong field of power hitters, with the first round establishing the contenders who would advance. James Wood (Nationals) hit 16 home runs, Brent Rooker (Athletics) and Cal Raleigh (Mariners) both recorded 17, and Matt Olson (Braves) tallied 15. Junior Caminero (rays) and Oneil Cruz (Pirates) tied for the lead with 21 home runs, while Byron Buxton (Twins) also advanced with 20. Jazz Chisholm Jr. of the yankees was eliminated in the first round with 3 home runs.
Tiebreaker criteria were used to determine advancement. Raleigh won a tiebreaker against Rooker based on the longest home run distance (470.61 feet to Rooker’s 470.53 feet). Similarly, Cruz advanced over Caminero due to a superior longest home run distance, securing his spot in the next round.
In the second round, the matchups were sown 2 vs. Sown 3 and Sown 1 vs. Sown 4. Junior Caminero (Sown 2) advanced to the final by hitting 8 home runs, surpassing Byron Buxton’s (Sown 3) 7 home runs. In the other semi-final, Cal Raleigh (Sown 4) defeated Oneil Cruz (Sown 1) with 19 home runs to Cruz’s 13.
