Holy Cross Nutrition Degree: 5-Year Accelerated Master’s Program

Holy Cross and Tufts friedman School Launch Accelerated Nutrition Program

The College of the Holy Cross and the Gerald J. and Dorothy R. Friedman School of Nutrition Science and Policy at Tufts University have partnered to create a new academic alliance, offering Holy Cross students a streamlined pathway to earn a bachelor’s degree and a Master of Science (M.S.) in Nutrition in as few as five years.

This program, launching in Fall 2025, reflects both institutions’ dedication to academic equity and provides an affordable route to advanced study in a field crucial to societal well-being. Accepted Holy cross students will be able to begin taking graduate-level courses at the Friedman School during their junior and senior years, with successful completion leading to streamlined admission into the M.S. in nutrition program.

“This program will offer a transformational opportunity for Holy Cross students across a range of disciplines and career paths,” said Holy Cross Provost and Dean Elliott Visconsi. “This degree will prepare students to engage with pressing issues like sustainability, food policy, and data analytics.”

The Friedman School’s M.S. in Nutrition program boasts 14 specialization areas – including Data analytics & AI in Nutrition, Agriculture, Food & Environment, and Climate, Sustainability and Food – and also a customizable “Build Your Own” track. Students can complete the master’s degree in as little as one year online or 1.5 years in a residential format after graduating from Holy Cross,resulting in both time and tuition savings.
