Livermore’s ‘Vineyard Mom’ Shares Pickled Provisions & Holiday Inspiration
LIVERMORE, CA – Dabney Pruett, owner of Pruett Farms Winery in Livermore and known affectionately as ”the Vineyard Mom,” is inspiring holiday entertaining with her signature pickled vegetables and upcoming cookbook. Pruett recently showcased her creations at a local event,offering a taste of her farm-to-table philosophy and sparking ideas for festive appetizers and meal enhancements.
Pruett’s approach to food is rooted in family tradition.Her daughter, katie Dabney of San Jose, recalled a childhood filled with home-cooked meals, with restaurant visits reserved for special occasions. This emphasis on fresh, flavorful ingredients is now being shared with a wider audience through Pruett’s recipes and pickled vegetable offerings.Attendees like Amy levin of Dublin praised the crisp, refreshing quality of the pickles, envisioning them as a Thanksgiving appetizer paired with Pruett Farms wines.
Beyond a simple garnish, pruett encourages creative uses for her pickled vegetables – one attendee substituted diced, pickled cauliflower for celery in a tuna salad. While her first book, “Take Me to the Vineyard,” is currently out of print, Pruett is actively working on a new collection of easy-to-make recipes focused on appetizers, salads, and pasta. she is also preparing for upcoming appearances on KRON4 television and finalizing plans for her family’s customary holiday meals, including a cranberry relish enhanced with orange zest.
