Kancher and Wong Propel Hofstra to Third Place at Columbia Autumn Invitational
LAKE PLACID, NY – Hofstra University men’s golf is positioned for a strong finish at the Columbia Autumn Invitational, currently sitting in third place after impressive performances from Hank Kancher and Joseph Wong at the Lake Placid Club. The Pride have combined for a two-round score of 559 (-9), trailing only Colgate (553, -15) in the 80-player field.
Kancher and Wong are leading the charge for Hofstra, demonstrating career-best play early in the fall season. Their strong individual showings highlight the team’s potential as they compete for a tournament title and build momentum heading into the remainder of their schedule. The final round of play is set for Sunday morning, with the team aiming to close the gap on the leader and secure a top finish.
Kancher is tied for fourth place carding career-low rounds of 69 (-2) in both the frist and second rounds.Wong isn’t far behind, currently tied for tenth after opening with a 70 (-1) and following it up with a personal-best 69 (-2) on Saturday.
Eugene Kang is also contributing substantially, tied for 24th place with rounds of 75 (+4) and a career-low 67 (-4). Charlie Ferrise is tied for 33rd, having begun the tournament with a career-best 69 (-2) before a second-round 75 (+4).Gavin Clarke rounds out the Hofstra contingent, tied for 48th after scores of 71 and 77.
