Hungarian Hockey coach Hailed a hero After Suffering Biceps Injury Saving Children
BUDAPEST, Hungary – Balázs Kangyal, head coach of the Budapest Hockey Academy HC, is being celebrated for his heroic actions on Saturday during a Super Cup game against Ferencváros. Kangyal sustained a likely biceps injury while preventing children from falling over a barrier during the match, the club announced on Facebook.According to a statement released by the Budapest Hockey Academy HC,Kangyal reacted instinctively when a group of children began to fall forward near the rink’s edge. “Unfortunately,it looks very much like the leader [Kangyal] injured his biceps last night,” the statement read.
Kangyal described the incident, explaining, “When he fell on the cord, there were a lot of kids who fell forward, so I reflexively [moved] after the barrier not to fall. However, by then, at least ten kids hanged on the railing, and as I made a biceps, I caught the railing with one hand not to fall under the iron, and I felt like thay were pricking a dagger over my elbow. Looks like my biceps are broken. Then whether or not this should be operated on, monday’s MR scan will tell you.”
Despite his injury, Kangyal expressed relief that the children were unharmed. the incident has sparked an outpouring of support online, with fans praising his selfless act. Comments included messages like, “Not all heroes wear cloaks… get better, Bill!” and “Better, Bill! It was a heroic act, thank you for your sacrificing soul!”
An MRI scan scheduled for Monday will determine the extent of the injury and whether surgery is required. Kangyal’s quick thinking and bravery have earned him widespread admiration, solidifying his status as a hero both on and off the ice.
