Him: A Bloody, Unsatisfying Football Thriller Ending

by Julia Evans – Entertainment Editor

Jordan Peele’s latest horror film, Him, culminates in a violent and ambiguous finale that leaves audiences questioning the motivations behind the protagonist’s actions and the overall meaning of the narrative. Released in theaters now,the film presents a bloody climax where Cam murders a group including his agent,Isaiah’s widow, and the owner of the saviors, after discovering his life was meticulously planned.

The film’s ending, while intended to evoke catharsis and resistance against controlling forces, instead feels hollow due to a perceived lack of genuine stakes and unclear character motivations. The narrative reveals cam’s injury and subsequent path were orchestrated to reach this pivotal moment, with threats made against his family should he refuse to comply with a presented contract. Instead of signing, Cam responds with lethal force.

Critics note the ambiguity surrounding Cam’s actions-whether driven by insanity, anger, or a combination of both-is never fully explored. While acknowledging that gory spectacle can be a valid artistic choice, reviewers suggest the ending feels like a narrative shortcut, failing to provide satisfying answers to fundamental questions about Cameron’s journey and the forces that led him to this point. The film offers no clear explanation for why Cam kills, or how he arrived at this orchestrated confrontation, ultimately diminishing the impact of the violent resolution.

Worldwide is credited for the film’s imagery, including a shot depicting Cam’s stitched head injury. The cast includes Tim Heidecker as Cam’s agent and Julia Fox as Isaiah’s widow.
