Hilton to Open New Tapestry Collection Hotel in Cork City Centre – 2027

March 22, 2026 Priya Shah – Business Editor Business

Hilton has announced plans to open a new Tapestry Collection by Hilton hotel in Cork City Centre, converting three late-Georgian buildings on South Terrace. The project, previously developed by the JMK Group, will comprise 103 guestrooms, including standard rooms and extended-stay accommodation with kitchenettes, and is slated to open in autumn 2027.

The announcement confirms reporting from December 2025 that two new hotels were planned for Cork City, one on South Mall and another on South Terrace. While the South Terrace development was known to be led by JMK hospitality group, Hilton’s involvement was not disclosed at the time. Planning permission for the conversion was originally granted in 2022.

The Tapestry Collection is Hilton’s boutique hotel brand. The South Terrace location will similarly feature a restaurant and breakfast area, a bar, and a fitness space. Hilton currently operates four Tapestry Collection hotels in the UK, with another planned for Plymouth, England. The Cork and Plymouth locations are collectively expected to create 100 new jobs, according to Hilton.

JMK Group director, Sonia Kajani, stated, “We are excited to bring the Tapestry Collection by Hilton to Cork. Hilton’s strong brand recognition and global reach make them an ideal partner, and this project will be a brilliant addition to our growing portfolio of high-quality hotels.”

The conversion will involve buildings numbered 31, 32, and 33 South Terrace, which the JMK Group purchased approximately a decade ago for around €1 million. Initial plans for the site had indicated a potential Adagio-branded aparthotel, a brand specializing in extended-stay accommodations, but the project has shifted to operate under the Hilton Tapestry Collection banner.

The planning grant allows for a five-floor annex to be built above and behind the existing Georgian structures, as well as the creation of an external landscaped courtyard. Nick Smart, Hilton’s Vice-president for the UK, Ireland, and the Nordics, said the new hotels “highlight our commitment to expanding our lifestyle portfolio across the UK and Ireland,” adding that Cork and Plymouth are a “great fit for the Tapestry Collection brand.”
