Hermès Spring/Summer 2027: Nadège Vanhée Redefines Luxury with Airy Silhouettes
Hermès presented its spring/summer 2027 ready-to-wear collection in Paris, featuring airy silhouettes, sheer knit dresses, and slit skirts designed by Nadège Vanhée to cope with rising global temperatures.
The Garde Républicaine Runway Faces High Temperatures
Inside the bright white show space at the Garde Républicaine barracks in Paris, guests including Sofia Vergara and Emmy Rossum fanned themselves with show notes on an unusually warm and sunny October day. Vanhée built the collection around the concept of air, noting that she traveled through Los Angeles, Asia, and Europe during brutally hot summers to study pragmatic silhouettes. The presentation took place on Saturday during Paris Fashion Week, which runs through October 6.
Vanhée Transforms Traditional Items into Sheer Garments
Vanhée transformed traditional items like the parka into airy dresses and sheer-paneled skirts featuring small zips to adjust lengths. The collection featured car wash-wiper fringe hems on coats, scrunched sleeves, and bandeau tops styled with tailored trousers and micro shorts. The collection included lace-like eyelet leather patterns and finely woven organza, as well as superfine, paper-thin calfskin jackets and silk pongee parkas designed for effortless movement.
Color Palette Evolves from Pastels to Bright Tones
The color story evolved from creamy whites and pastel blues into camel, chocolate, and sand before finishing with bright splashes of sunflower yellow, terra-cotta, tomato red, and signature Hermès orange. The collection paired heavy materials like suede with ethereal organza to offer freedom of movement without rigid structure. The runway featured open latticework on cream leather bucket handbags, flat minimalist leather sandals, and occasional knee-high boots.

Luxury Market Context and Upcoming Haute Couture Debut
The runway presentation arrives as Hermès grapples with a broader industry slowdown in demand for luxury handbags and clothes, with shares down 39% since the start of this year. Vanhée, who has served as womenswear creative director since 2014, prepares to present her first haute couture collection for the brand in January.
