Chargers QB Justin Herbert Day-to-Day Following Hand Injury
INGLEWOOD, Calif. – Los Angeles Chargers quarterback Justin Herbert is considered day-to-day after sustaining a hand injury during Sunday’s win over the las Vegas Raiders, the team announced. Herbert had a cast applied to his hand in the locker room during the game but returned to lead three more touchdown drives, operating exclusively out of the shotgun formation.
The injury occurred during the game, prompting a brief exit for evaluation. Despite the setback, Herbert completed the game and showcased remarkable toughness, according to Coach Jim Harbaugh. “He’s almost otherworldly when it comes to that,” Harbaugh said. “There’s huge respect for that.”
While the Chargers have designated Herbert’s status as day-to-day, the quarterback indicated he would only miss playing time if advised against by the team doctor. “The only way I wouldn’t play is if the team doctor told me it would be ’very unwise’ to do so,” Herbert stated after the game.
A potential concern moving forward is ball security during handoffs, particularly on runs to the right side. Herbert acknowledged this, stating, “I think ball security is paramount. I think I did a good enough job of that today in the pocket.Just get involved with the running backs. so it’s just stuff to work on.”
the Chargers will continue to evaluate Herbert’s condition as they prepare for their next game. The team has not yet announced a timeline for his return.
