Paris to Host Inaugural “Fête du Sport” on September 13-14, 2025
PARIS – Building on the momentum of the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, France will launch a national sports holiday, the “Fête du Sport,” on September 13-14, 2025. The event, announced by President Emmanuel Macron and Minister of Sports, Youth and Associative Life, Marie Barsacq, aims to solidify France’s position as a leading sports nation and celebrate the enduring values of athleticism and community.
President Macron envisioned the “Fête du Sport” as a way to harness the spirit of the Paris 2024 Games, stating, “The memories of this majestic French moment of spirit, made of audacity and fraternity, must be used to build the future…To signify that the flame of sport passion has not died out and that the nation still vibrates the values of sport: passion for the collective, taste for effort, desire to surpass itself.”
The inaugural festival will serve as the frist anniversary celebration of the 2024 Games, concluding a summer of festivities.Minister Barsacq emphasized the event’s broader purpose, explaining it will celebrate “everything that sport and physical activity bring us on a daily basis: physical and mental well-being, self-confidence, respect for others, the taste for sharing and the spirit of solidarity.”
The event will be a nationwide celebration involving volunteers, professionals, and sports enthusiasts of all levels.
